Hotel Villa Cipressi Wedding | Lake Como Wedding Photographer

Laura & Luke got in touch with me to be their Hotel Villa Cipressi Lake Como wedding photographer and we immediately bonded! I loved hearing all about their story, and I was so excited to be around on their day! Three years ago, Laura bonded with an elderly lady at church, who turned out to be a total matchmaker! Their love story began when she popped over to this lady’s house for a coffee and meets Luke. Now the rest is history!

So fast forward to the big day, and it’s a beautiful sunny day in Italy. Hotel Villa Cipressi has such beautiful views over the lake and its glorious mountains. A sunset ceremony was their choice due to it being during the high heat of summer. It turned out to be a wise choice! We had such a beautiful sunset at Lake Como, and their whole day was magical. Then, we went out onto the boat for their sunset couple’s photos, and had a small tour around Varenna.

I highly recommend doing a boat tour if you decide to get married in Lake Como! It gives you some alone time to really take it all in. Sunset is also a great time for your couple’s photos too, for the beautiful golden hour! Hotel Villa Cipressi truly is such a beautiful place to get married at in Lake Como.

Tips for getting married in Italy, from Laura the bride:

1. Visit Italy for enjoyment: We didn’t book in lots of wedding venues to visit (we actually accidentally stumbled across our venue one day whilst out exploring). Therefore I’d encourage people to take time to: soak up the scenery, breathe in the views and enjoy the food.  Then take an evening to reflect on places which brought you both joy and make a plan from there…

2. Wedding planners are incredible but if you’re worried your budget won’t allow this luxury, then check if your wedding venue has an event planner. An event planner will – at no extra cost – liaise with all your external providers on the day (and prior to the day) and have everything running like clockwork so you can enjoy your special day.  The event planner will also send you all their recommended suppliers which is a great place to start. Don’t be afraid to check out other highly rated suppliers: remember it’s your day so choose what celebrates and highlights your unique character and qualities.

3. Just because you’re getting married in Italy, doesn’t mean you can’t have suppliers from the UK. We invested in a GREAT photographer, videographer and make up artist who all flew out from the UK. One of the highlights of them being in the UK was that if we needed, we could meet up in person, discuss and adapt our vision, complete trials and really get to know our suppliers. Connection between you and the supplier is so important as you will be sending your whole day with them

4. Create a guest website. Asking guests to fly to a country they have never been to before can be a little daunting for them. So to help our guests feel more familiar with the area, we stored everything in one place, on our custom made website. Guests could find hotel recommendations, recommended airbnbs, different travel options, best places to eat, things to do in the area and all the details of the day. Best of all, the website creator was absolutely FREE and allowed us to send invitation reminders, store guest details and collate any photos the guests had taken on the day.
